The Ultimate Guide to Vancouver Island & Gulf Island Farmers Markets (2026)
Summer is one of the best times to explore Vancouver Island, and farmers markets give us the perfect excuse to hit the road, wander through a new community, and come home with three loaves of bread, a handmade candle, and absolutely none of the vegetables we originally stopped for.
From Victoria to Campbell River and across the beautiful Gulf Islands, each market has its own personality. You’ll find fresh produce, handcrafted goods, locally made treats, talented artists, and small businesses that will have you saying, “Okay, one more thing,” at least four times.
We’ve gathered many of the farmers markets happening across Vancouver Island and the surrounding Gulf Islands into one easy-to-use guide. You’ll find market days and times, what each one is known for, and helpful details to make planning your next weekend adventure easier, because arriving after the vendors have packed up is a very specific kind of heartbreak.
So pick a market, round up your favourite people, and make a day of it. Go hungry, take your time, and prepare to become emotionally attached to at least one loaf of sourdough.
Our Market Must-Dos
Here's what's always on our Van Isle Sisters checklist for the perfect farmers market morning:
Shop local. We love filling our bags with fresh produce, handmade treasures, and treats from local makers.
Arrive hungry. Between the fresh baking, food trucks, coffee, and market snacks, breakfast plans usually sort themselves out.
Bring reusable bags. Trust us, you'll always leave with more than you planned.
Take your time. Wander every aisle, chat with the vendors, and don't be afraid to ask about their products. Everyone has a story worth hearing.
Make a day of it. Pair the market with a nearby beach, hiking trail, winery, café, or scenic drive and turn it into a full Vancouver Island adventure.
One of the things we love most about farmers markets is how they bring communities together. They're a chance to support local families, discover incredible handmade products, and slow down for a few hours while exploring somewhere new. We'll definitely be visiting plenty of markets this summer with our kids.
If we missed listing your favourite market, shoot us an email or DM us on Instagram to let us know!
